Where Stares Stay
On view from June 13 through August 1,2025
Opening Reception: Friday, June 13, 6 - 8pm
Lower East Side Printshop is pleased to announce Where Stares Stay, a group exhibition featuring ten artists whose practices extend from and into printmaking. The exhibition title, Where Stares Stay, is drawn from a poetic expression in the Korean language, evoking the lingering gaze held by memory or emotion. The works on view reflect the visions, places, and ideas to which the artists have committed their physical and emotional presence over time — whether found in the mundane scenes of daily life, unexpected encounters, or widely shared events and news. These moments or subjects, in part or whole, compel the artists to translate them into visual form. Through the time-intensive processes of carving, painting, inscribing, printing, and layering, the familiar is offered anew — inviting audiences to look again, and more deeply.
This exhibition is organized by Kyung Eun You, featuring works by Rachel Burgess, Aurélien Couput, Kakyoung Lee, Kate Liebman, Caroline Ongpin, Ernesto Ortiz Leyva, Henry Rosenberg, Jeremy Ruiz, Ian Ruppenthal, and Caleb Stone
